All aboard with Mogfest

Jan 19, 2025

Announcing two very special opportunities for members attending this year’s
event.

On Sunday 29 June you can join us on an exciting cruise when SS Shieldhall, the
largest working steamship in Britain, will venture into the Medina River on the Isle of
Wight!

On our way down Southampton Water we will pass the cruise ship Independence of
the Seas at close quarters. On reaching the Solent we will continue to head south,
entering the lower reaches of the Medina River, passing old warehouses and
wharves, where in the past flying boats, hovercraft and steamships were developed
and built. We’ll welcome on board guests from the Hammerhead Crane Trust who
will give an entertaining insight into the Medina views. As part of the cruise
experience you’ll see Shieldhall’s original steam engines at work and the bridge, with
its traditional instruments and gleaming brasswork, talk to the captain and volunteer
crew, listen to the sights and sounds of Southampton Water and the Solent, passing
close to the great ocean liners and container ships, walk the teak decks and relax in
the Saloon with a wide range of refreshments. In addition, a full commentary will be
provided as well as a stop at Cowes.

If you’d like to experience the golden age of steam please book at an early date as
places are limited. The price is £52.00 per person, a saving on the normal fare, and
the first 20 cars booked will have access to a special display area outside the
Southampton berth.

National Motor Museum Exclusive access
Members attending the Saturday evening barbecue at Beaulieu will be able to gain
privileged museum access, thanks to special arrangements courtesy of the museum.
This will permit entry to view the amazing collection of vehicles at leisure during the
period between the site closing, to the public and day visitors, and the barbecue
starting.

Booking for the inclusive accommodation/event packages and all the weekend
programme options including day tickets is now available. Book now to avoid
disappointment - only available through MSCC Travel Club or call 01732 979153.
